Ricardo Rangel
Ricardo Rangel was one of the most important photographers in sub-Saharan Africa. He lived from 1924 until 2009 in Mozambique. Bruno Z'Graggen curated together with Grant Lee Neuenburg a big exhibition on Mozambican Photography with the title «Iluminando Vidas. Fotografia Moçambicana 1950–2001. Ricardo Rangel & the Next Generation», which was shown 2002 at Photoforum PasquArt in Bienne followed by many other venues. Afterwards, Bruno Z'Graggen realized together with Angelo Sansone as well a documentary on Ricardo Rangel which appeared 2011. His work is a testimony on a part of the Portuguese colonial domination in Africa. It is time to remember Ricardo Rangel again.
