RELAÇÕES TRANSATLÂNTICAS
Momentos públicos da pesquisa do curador Bruno Z'Graggen no Acervo do Videobrasil

From May until October 2017, Bruno Z'Graggen did a research residency in São Paulo within the Associação Cultural Videobrasil and enlarges his knowledge on video art and contemporary art with a regard on Brazil, Latin America and the global South. He spent his attention on the more than 30 years old collection (Acervo Histórico) of Videobrasil with more than 1'400 works. His interest was focussed on the historical triangle Portugal/Europe – Africa – Brazil with the historical and multifaceted colonial and postcolonial context, which is always present within the actual societal reality in Brazil. How are such relations visible in video works of that collection?

During the research of Bruno Z'Graggen in São Paulo within Videobrasil, an event series with five parts took place from 5th Juli until 30th September 2017 with screenings and talks as a cooperation of VIDEO WINDOW and Videobrasil supported by the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia (Programa COINCIDENCIA).

The series is entitled «Relações transatlânticas. Momentos públicos da pesquisa do curador Bruno Z'Graggen no Acervo Videobrasil» and contains the presentation of two projects Bruno Z'Graggen did realise before: a screening programme consisting of actual Swiss video art entitled Winter Video Night. «Between Reality and Illusion», 2017 and a film portrait SEM FLASH, 2012 of the famous forerunner of Mozambicain photography, Ricardo Rangel (1924–2009). The other three parts showed thematical focussed results of the research within the collection of Videobrasil (Acervo Histórico).

Four events took place on different places in the City of São Paulo and a fifth in Rio de Janeiro.
